THE WHITE HOUSE SOLAR HEATING
1979 - USDOE
The design for the solar heating of the White House was done under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy for the Carter Administration. Four arrays of flat plate solar heating panels were mounted on a structural support frame to meet requirements of the GSA, the Dept. of the Interior (who manage the White House grounds and facilities), and the Carter Administration. The system provided hot water for the kitchen facilities of the White House Marine Guards. The system was later removed.
