LAKE PLACID WINTER OLYMPICS
SOLAR HEATING - USDOE
Solar heating of the Winter Olympics Complex in Lake Placid, NY involved the development of a master plan for the complex and the design of solar systems for each of the different facilities. The work was carried out in support of the U.S. Department of Energy solar demonstration program in the 1970's and early 1980's.
Hot water solar hearing systems were designed for the Olympic residential facilities and the skating rink. The 70 meter and 90 meter ski jumps were designed with air solar heating panels integrated into the tower structure.
